Second Annual - Surf City Comic Con Brings Community and Creativity Together

The past weekend, Capitola, CA came alive as it held its second annual Surf City Comic Con, and it was nothing short of a celebration that exceeded all expectations even bigger and better than the first, this years event brought together even larger crowds of fans. From comics and cosplay to art and collectibles, the event was a vibrant showcase of pop culture and an assortment of amazing local talent.

Fans of all ages packed the venue, exploring vendor booths, checking out panels, and connecting over their favorite fandoms. The artist alley was buzzing with creativity, and indie creators got a ton of well-deserved attention.

One of the biggest highlights of our weekend was the interest and turnout for the first issue local indie based comic book “VATOMAN …and RUBEN!!” which sold out quickly thanks to incredible community support. Fans lined up to purchase merch, a signed copy and meet and talk to the creator, showing just how much love there is for original independent stories just truly grateful and appreciative.

Cosplayers brought their A-game, with everything from superheroes to sci-fi icons strutting through the con. The costume contest drew a big crowd and big energy, closing the event on a high note.

The second annual Surf City Comic Con was a big win for Capitola—bringing together fans, artists, and creators for a weekend of fun, inspiration, and connection. Thanks to everyone Joe and all the staff at the con for accomodating us and making us feel so welcomed. Next year can’t come soon enough!
